James Langslow: Growing with County Milk
James is the third generation of the Langslow family to work within the business, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, John Langslow, who founded the business in 1993. His journey with County Milk Products began more than six years ago, in April 2020, when he was 16 years old. At the beginning of the COVID-19 lockdown our Founder, John Langslow, gave him the opportunity to work alongside the Head Gardener, Nathan, helping to maintain the gardens at the head office. John had always had a genuine passion for gardening and he recognised the same interest in James.
From Gardening To Business
Around the same time, he also began studying Business Management at Manchester Metropolitan University and started his own gardening and landscaping business. Balancing the business alongside his studies allowed him to put his learning into practice while developing valuable skills in leadership, operations and decision-making.
Learning The Dairy Business From The Ground Up
In September 2025, while continuing to run his own business, he stepped back from the gardening responsibilities at the County Milk Products office and began working at our powder blending operation in Widnes, County Food Ingredients. He initially worked in the laboratory, learning the fundamentals of quality testing and the importance of consistent product standards. He then moved into production, gaining hands-on experience of the powder blending process and how products move through the facility. He also spent time in the butter oil operation, following the production process from start to finish.

Exploring The Wider Group
Following his time at County Food Ingredients, James moved to another business within the Group, The Protein Partners. This gave him exposure to a different side of the organisation and experience across several departments, including Quality Control, Operations, Sales and Business Development, and New Product Development. Working across these functions strengthened his understanding of how different areas of a business work together, from manufacturing and quality to product development, operations and the commercial side of the company.
Growing His Experience
Around this time, he completed his Business Management degree, which brought him one step closer to joining the County Milk Products Head Office. Before making that transition, in September 2026, he completed a Dairy Science Processing course at Reaseheath College in Nantwich so that he developed a deeper technical understanding of the science and processes behind the dairy industry.
The Next Chapter
Looking back, James’ journey to County Milk Products HQ has been built through a combination of practical experience, academic study and entrepreneurship. Six years after first becoming involved with County Milk Products, he is now beginning the next chapter of his career at the Head Office as a Business Graduate.
James says, “Having had the opportunity to understand the business from the ground up, both literally and figuratively, makes this next step particularly meaningful to me. County Milk Products is not simply a company I am joining; it is a business that has been part of my family for more than three decades and one that I have grown up around. I am extremely proud to be the third generation of my family to contribute to County Milk Products and I am very excited to continue learning, developing and playing my part in the future of the business.”
We are delighted to welcome James into his new role and we look forward to supporting him in this new chapter.
